Give Walking Or Jogging a Try
We hear so much about this abdominal machine or that home gym, the list of fitness products and fads simply goes on and on but all medical and health practitioners know that the easiest way to get active is to simply put your foot down. All you need is the will and the motivation to do it.
One of the easiest ways to introduce a change in your lifestyle, one that will be very beneficial to your health, is to slightly alter an already existing habit. For example, instead of driving to the corner store you can walk instead. As a rule – if you can walk there and back within an hour then it’s fair game, you have the option to walk, jog or cycle instead of taking the car. It will help your health and your wallet.
You can also buy aids to help motivate your progress such as a pedometer which will keep count of your steps and approximate the amount of calories burnt. Keep a diary to track your progress. One new product you could try out is the Nike plus iPod sports kit. The pedometer attaches to your shoe for a very accurate reading of how far you travel while the iPod will keep you entertained with some favourite music and is strapped to your arm.
You may enjoy it, you may not but I’m sure that there is some form of physical activity to suit everyone, you just have to try to find out. Research shows that we have a huge influence, either positive or negative, on the people we live with so perhaps your new changes will also inspire others around you to follow suit! You never know.
